Policy Cover Scores Explained

Pet insurance companies, as some people know, provide very different levels of cover.

Unfortunately there are many people who really don’t know that going to a price comparison engine and selecting the cheapest policy they can find is not a good idea!

And those that do know that you need to choose your policy carefully often struggle to work out work out what cover is actually provided.

The purpose of our cover scores is twofold. Firstly to give you a quick indicator of the level of cover provided and secondly to act as starting point for you to go on to discover more about the strengths and weaknesses of any particular policy.

So every policy has been assessed in detail and an overall score produced. But we have also published scores for each section of the assessment. These sections are

Vet Fees
Complementary Therapies
Third Party Public Liability
Other Benefits
Travel
Small Print
Excess and Contribution Charges
Older Pets

Whilst we the overall score will give you some guide to the amount of cover provided we would highly recommend you then also check the scores for each section as some will be more important to you than others.   For example if you never intend to travel abroad with your pet then it will not matter to you if the travel cover is poor.

The section scores can be found on the review page for each policy. To access this simply go to the policy page and select “Read Policy Review”.

The factors considered in each of the above sections are as follows:-
