Asda Pet Insurance: New Policies and Policy Updates

Asda Money have recently revamped their pet insurance offering. Their top-cover policy is now a £7,500 lifetime annual benefit policy. This replaces their £6,000 per condition policy. They have also added an accident policy is their range.

Their new accident policy offers £2,500 per accident (with not time limit). It also includes £1 million third party liability cover and a death benefit for accidents (£200 maximum).

Asda Money have increased their standard excess from £75 to £85 and our research suggests that their premiums have increased by 12% since we did our annual survey in February this year.

But the 10% contribution charge which previously applied to all vet fees claims for all pets has been changed. Whether this applies will now depend on your pets age and breed. Our research suggests that for some breeds (eg German Shepherd) this will still apply whatever the age of your pet, for most others it will only apply for pets aged 5 and over.

Many of the other benefits have been increased and this now generally provide a very good level of cover. Asda Money have also now added a “Daily Minding Fees” benefit which will pay for your pet to be looked after by somebody else (as an alternative to a boarding kennel or cattery) if you are hospitalised for 4 days or more.
