This is an annual policy. It provides cover for treatment of any new conditions arising during the policy year but only until the end of the policy year. After which it will not be covered as it will be treated as a pre-existing condition. We understand that it provides £2,000 of illness cover and £2,000 of accident cover. You should be aware that vet fees claims are only paid if your pet has had a healthcheck in the previous 12 months. The policy excludes any conditions caused by your pet being overweight. Third party public liability cover is limited to £500,000 which is a particularly low level of cover. It provides most other benefits but not holiday cancellation cover. Unlike the other Vets Medicover policies it does not cover any pre-existing conditions. It includes 3 months travel cover to any country covered by the PET travel scheme but doesn't include cover for additional travel risks such as quarantine, loss of documents etc.
Will pay up to £500 for complementary therapies including but not limited to physiotherapy, hydrotherapy, herbal or homeopathic medicines and acupuncture.
The excess for vet fees is £80 per condition. For older pets you pay the lower of £80 or 15% of the vet fees. (Dogs over 8 and Cats over 10). The excess for third party public liability claims is £250. Unusually this policy also charges an excess for other benefits of between £50 and £80.
This policy is only available for pets who have not reached their 8th birthday.
